Don’t hit too many balls at the driving range!
What kind of practice should I do to improve my golf game?
I am often asked this question. Of course, it is important to practice, but in my case, I think I spent more time thinking about golf than practicing hitting the ball.
When I was a student, even if I was at the driving range for 10 hours from 10am to 8pm, I would only hit about 200 balls at most. I checked my swing after each ball, so I didn’t hit that many balls.
I understand the feeling of wanting to hit a lot of balls when you go to the driving range. However, if you want to improve, I don’t recommend hitting the ball without thinking.

When hitting a ball, the goal is always the ball’s trajectory, so as long as you get a good shot, you’re satisfied regardless of the quality of your swing.
I think if you hit hundreds of balls, some of them will be nice shots.
However, if a combination of hooking and slicing elements occurs and the ball happens to fly straight, it is just a coincidence that it is a good shot, not that you have improved your technique.
Golf is a sport where repeatability is very important, so you should pay attention to your swing rather than the ball’s trajectory. If you improve your swing, repeatability will increase, and so will the chances of hitting a good shot.
By the way, the phrase “reproducibility is important” will be used repeatedly from now on. This is how important it is, so don’t forget it.
So what do we need to be aware of to improve reproducibility?
