Yonsei University (President Dong-seop Yoon) successfully held the ‘Quantum Computer and Biohealth Forum’ at the Underwood Memorial Library on the International Campus on October 29th.
The ‘Quantum Computer and Biohealth Forum’ is an event that began in 2022, and has established itself as an important communication venue for establishing a quantum computing ecosystem and revitalizing related industries at Yonsei University’s International Campus and the Songdo region.
This year’s forum was hosted by the Quantum Business Group and the Quantum Information Technology Research Institute under the Institute of Convergence Science and Technology at Yonsei University, and was prepared to highlight the importance of quantum computers in the biohealth field and discuss research cooperation plans between Yonsei University and the Cleveland Clinic in the United States.
In particular, at this forum, Professor Kenneth Merz of the Cleveland Clinic was invited and a special session was held on the topic of ‘Intermolecular interactions explored using quantum computers.’ The session covered ▲Cleveland Clinic’s use of IBM quantum computing, ▲the future application potential of quantum computing technology to health and life science problems, and ▲Sample-based Quantum Subspace Diagonalization (SQD). Additionally, experts in related fields gathered to share the latest research results and discuss ways to continue cooperation between Yonsei University and Cleveland Clinic.
This forum was broadcast live on the Yonsei University Convergence Science and Technology Institute YouTube channel, and an additional 5-minute summary video will be posted.
Jae-ho Jeong, Director of the Institute of Convergence Science and Technology (Quantum Business Division Director), said, “Through this forum, Yonsei University will seek new possibilities through the convergence of quantum computers and each industry, and will continue to seek ways to cooperate with the Cleveland Clinic, which has introduced the IBM quantum computer, through networking. “We plan to strengthen,” he said.
