■MLB World Series Game 4 Yankees 11-4 Dodgers (30th Japan time Yankee Stadium, New York)
The Yankees, who had lost three straight games since the start of the World Series, defeated the Dodgers in Game 4 and scored their first win in the series.
Young player A. Volpy (23) hit a bases-loaded home run, and scored 11 points in a one-shot attack, resulting in a big victory. A. Judge (32), the league’s home run leader, had a timely hit in the 8th inning for the first time in three games, scoring an extra point.
In WS, there has never been a case in which he lost three in a row in the first round and then won four in a row, but he started out with just one win and three losses, keeping his hopes alive for becoming world number one for the first time in 15 years.
In the first inning of the game, F. Freeman hit a two-run lead for the Dodgers, and the Dodgers started a shocking four-game series starting with the opening game. He has fired in six consecutive games since the 2021 WS (Round 5) when he was with the Braves, marking a new WS record.
In the second inning, the Yankees got one point back with a walk and a hit, with one out and a man on second and third base, and No. 9 A. Verdugo (28) grounded out in the infield, making the lead 1-2. Then in the third inning, with one out, Judge was hit by a pitch near his right wrist, and a hit and a walk by G. Stanton (34) gave him a chance to load the bases with two outs. Here, the young Volpi, who is said to be Jeter’s successor, hits a grand slam with the bases loaded, and Yankee Stadium cheers wildly. The game turned around at 5-2.
The Dodgers got close to a one-run lead in the 5th inning thanks to W. Smith’s solo home run and a score between an infield grounder, but in the 6th inning, the Yankees’ No. 8, A. Wells (25), went to the right field stand with his second postseason home run. 6-4 with a valuable solo home run.
In the 7th inning, the Yankees wanted to make a run for it, and M. Leiter Jr. (33), the 4th man with one out and second baseman, struck out Shohei Otani with a thorough split attack. Here, the bench sent guard L. Weaver (31) to the mound. Weaver also struck out M. Betts, and in the 8th inning, he struck out Freeman, who was in good shape for the fourth time in a row, and then struck out T. Hernandez and M. Muncy with two consecutive whiffs, leaving all three players out. New York fans cheered wildly as their guardian pitched well.
The batting line was 10-4 with No. 1 G. Torres (27) hitting 3 runs in the 8th inning. Judge, who had been in a slump with only one hit in 12 at bats in the three WS games thus far, jumped out with a hit, and with his first hit in 14 at-bats, he finished with a score of 11-4. In the 9th inning, T. Meiza (32) closed the game, giving the Yankees their first win of the series.
