[Reporter Hong Meixiu/Hsinchu Report]The well-known sculptor Yang Yingfeng was born in Yilan during the Japanese occupation. He was influenced by Eastern and Western art. His sculptures include marble and stainless steel, and he has 14 works on the campus of Yangming Jiaotong University, which is the only one in the country. Yang Ming Jiaotong University, a university that collects various works of Yang Yingfeng, held the “Yingfeng Centennial Art Without Boundaries” exhibition for Yang Yingfeng this year. His daughter, Master Shi Kuanqian, also explained her father’s lifelong artistic persistence and invited everyone to watch Yang Yingfeng’s century-old artistic splendor.

Master Shi Kuanqian is the third daughter of Yang Yingfeng. After becoming a monk for more than 30 years, she has followed her father’s footsteps and traveled across East Asia, North America and China. She has visited more than 10 cities and visited old friends to understand the changes in her father’s thoughts and works. Correspondingly, he is both her father and her master. From Shi Kuanqian’s perspective, “My Father Yingfeng” leads the audience to explore Yang Yingfeng’s growth experience and affectionate life, as well as the richness and diversity of his creations. By searching for her father’s works scattered around the world, she reconstructed the complete image of her father in her heart. She witnessed this generation of masters, like a father and a teacher, combining the East and the West to showcase the centuries-old glory of Taiwanese art.

Yang Ming Jiaotong University stated that it jointly launched the retrospective exhibition “A Century of Yingfeng: Art Without Boundaries” with the Yang Yingfeng Art Education Foundation to commemorate the artistic achievements of Taiwanese art master Yang Yingfeng throughout his life. Through the four major themes of “Origin of Jiaotong University”, “Feng Nian Ying Feng”, “Study in Rome” and “Landscape Sculpture”, the exhibition highlights Yang Yingfeng’s creative process spanning more than sixty years, and displays including prints, sketches, sculptures, landscapes Representative works of design and other diverse media.

Yang Yingfeng’s relationship with Yangming Jiaotong University began in 1996. He created a large stainless steel sculpture “Yuanhui Runsheng” for the centennial anniversary of Jiaotong University. The work symbolizes the unchanging laws of the universe and conveys the harmony between natural cycles and technological development. Symbiotically, it has become a landmark artwork of SJTU. Today, 14 large-scale sculptures by Yang Yingfeng are displayed on the campus, surrounding Haoran Library, like an open art gallery. The exhibition will be on display until October 11.
