Washington ∙ Democratic presidential candidate and Vice President Kamala Harris’s statement that she would hold one or two more debates was an inch away from the presidential election. Former President Donald Trump, the presidential candidate of the Republican Party, has stumbled on it. Trump has given the message that he is not ready for another debate with Kamala Harris by stating that there is no need for a debate.

The question arises whether Trump is afraid of a debate. But he did not get justice in the last debate. Trump’s fear that another debate will only increase injustice is not misplaced. A New York Times opinion poll says that if Kamala Harris can hold on to her current lead in swing states, she could win the 270 electoral votes she needs to win. It also adds that Harris and Trump have the upper hand to secure 200 votes.

If Trump can make gains in key states, victory is assured. It is also said that if there is a wave in favor of Trump somewhere, the upper hand given to Harris is likely to backfire. There are occasions when opinion polls are not final voting results. Therefore, it is cautioned that current surveys cannot be relied upon.

The results of the opinion poll between Harris and Trump are evaluated by analyzing the difference between Biden and Trump. How reliable this comparison is cannot be said.
