Himanta Sarma on Love Jihad: Preparations have been made to curb love jihad in Assam. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma gave this information. Sarma said that a proposal for such a law is being brought in the state under which the culprits of love jihad will be sentenced to life imprisonment. A law is also going to come in Assam regarding the purchase and sale of land between Hindus and Muslims. Himanta Sarma calls it land jihad. He said this during the BJP state executive meeting in Guwahati. It is worth noting that UP has recently passed a bill. In this, some changes have been made regarding the punishment in the Anti-Conversion Bill of 2021. According to this, a provision of punishment from 10 years to life imprisonment has been made in crimes related to marriage or in cases related to current marriage.
The Chief Minister of Assam said that we talked a lot about love jihad during the elections. This is a very real and serious matter. It includes cases ranging from forced conversion to deceitful love relationships. Himanta said that in the next few days we are going to take such steps, after which those doing such work will get life imprisonment. Himanta Sarma further described ‘land jihad’ as a big threat. He told that a law is also being made regarding this. The CM of Assam said that if a Muslim wants to buy the property of a Hindu or a Muslim wants to buy the property of a Hindu, then it will be scrutinized. He said that an area as big as the city of Chandigarh has been freed from people of a particular section.
Himanta Sarma said that the BJP is committed to protecting the rights of the people of the state. He said that we are going to bring a new law to protect the lands of historical and cultural importance in Barpeta, Majuli and Batadrava. After this, only the people of this area will be able to buy land here. Regarding CAA, Sarma said that it was a brave step of the BJP government.
