Chandigarh: The victory won by wrestler Vinesh Phogat by beating his opponent in the elections is double sweet. Vinesh’s victory on the Congress ticket is also a heavy blow to BJP leader and ex-wrestling federation president Brij Bhushan Singh and the Sangh Parivar, who is accused in the case of sexual harassment of wrestlers.

Vinesh and other wrestlers were publicly hunted for protesting against Brij Bhushan in the case of torturing wrestlers. Vinesh won from Jhulana constituency by 6,140 votes. BJP’s youth leader Captain Yogesh Bairagi was beaten by Phogat in the election. Vinesh was disqualified in the final match of the wrestling 50 kg category following the controversy of being overweight at the Paris Olympics and later retired.

Vinesh, who joined the Congress, was given a party ticket to contest in Julana. Even after winning, Brij Bhushan came back to the stage by repeatedly insulting and mocking Vinesh. Bhushan said that BJP’s candidates were able to win in Jat-dominated constituencies despite the wrestlers protesting against him. “The much-talked-about wrestlers who participated in the wrestlers’ protest are not Haryana’s heroes. They are the villains of all junior wrestlers. If Vinesh Phogat used my name to win then I am great who helped him win. She won but Congress lost. “She causes havoc wherever she goes,” said Brij Bhushan.

He hailed BJP’s hat-trick victory in Haryana. There were many attempts to mislead the people of the state in the name of protest by farmers and wrestlers. But Brij Bhushan responded that people supported BJP’s position. After the announcement of the candidate, Brij Bhushan had abused Vinesh who had cheated to participate in the Olympics and that not getting a medal was a punishment given by God.

The victory achieved through the fighting spirit of not wanting to lose is also a sweet revenge for those who hunted him. Brij Bhushan had taunted that Vinesh could be defeated even by a small candidate of BJP and in any constituency he would lose. Vinesh replied that India is not Brij Bhushan and the people of the country are with him. With the election verdict, Vinesh’s words came true. Vinesh responded that his victory is a symbol of the struggle of all girls and women.
