Due to the complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic in Thailand, the Vietnamese Association of Udon Thani Province organized the Hung Kings Commemoration Ceremony this year on a small scale, with the participation of members of the Association’s Executive Committee.

In a respectful and solemn atmosphere, delegates attending the ceremony offered incense to commemorate the Hung Kings.

Mr. Luong Xuan Hoa, Chairman of the Vietnamese Association of Udon Thani Province, said that this year is the fourth consecutive year that the Vietnamese community in Udon Thani Province has held the Hung Kings’ Commemoration Ceremony at Khanh An Pagoda. This is also the place where overseas Vietnamese held the Hung Kings’ Commemoration Ceremony for the first time in 2019 and where they placed the statue of King Hung.

The Chairman of the Vietnamese Association of Udon Thani Province added that the annual Hung Kings Commemoration Festival is also an opportunity for overseas Vietnamese to remind their descendants of the Lac Hong bloodline that still flows in every Vietnamese person in Udon Thani Province in particular and around the world in general.

Mr. Luong Xuan Hoa called on people, especially the young overseas Vietnamese generation, not to forget their roots as descendants of Lac Hong, to join hands in preserving the traditional culture of the nation, and to turn towards their homeland.

Previously, on March 27, during a working visit to Udon Thani province, a delegation from the Vietnamese Consulate General in Khon Kaen led by Consul General Chu Duc Dung and the overseas Vietnamese community offered incense to commemorate the Hung Kings at Khanh An Pagoda.

Speaking at the incense offering ceremony, Consul General Chu Duc Dung emphasized: “All Vietnamese people are proud to carry the blood of Lac Hong descendants. The worship of the Hung Kings is the cultural identity and traditional morality of the Vietnamese people, expressing the gratitude of generations of descendants to the merits of their ancestors in the cause of building and defending the country.”
