Washington: Kamala Harris, who is of Indian origin, has won the opinion polls in the United States, where the trumpet has sounded for the presidential election. The latest results show that the current vice president, who stepped in as a Democratic representative after Joe Biden withdrew amid concerns about his age and performance, has more popular support than Trump.
In a survey conducted by the British newspaper Guardian considering the performance of the last 10 days, Kamala won 47.5 percent of the votes while Trump has the support of 43.9 percent. The new indications are that the first candidate debate will take place on Tuesday after Kamala entered the race.
With this, the votes in the states that are swinging on both sides or won only by a narrow margin are sure to be more crucial. States such as North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Nevada, Arizona, Michigan, Wisconsin and Arizona are expected to decide the decision.
In a country with 539 Electoral College votes in 50 states including these, 270 will win. While Trump used Biden’s age and performance as a weapon, Trump’s campaign racially targeted Kamala Harris.
