Sandy McCain, executive director of the World Food Program in Rome, said in a statement that civilians are facing “potential immediate starvation” as winter approaches, shelters are overcrowded and unsafe, and there is no drinking water.

The United Nations has been warning for weeks about the increase in hunger in Gaza, saying that there will be difficulties in Gaza now or it will not exist at all.

The World Food Program has said that “this problem of hunger can be solved with a cross-border mission” and the only candidate is to open another safe passage to bring food to Gaza.

This United Nations agency also added that if the lack of oil is caused by the foodstuff that has arrived from Egypt by trucks, it will not reach Gaza.

The World Food Program has warned that the amount of food imported into Gaza is still insufficient and only meets seven percent of daily needs.
