Speaking to VNA reporters in Bangkok, Mr. Pumin Piyawanich, a representative of Ekthai Company, which imports lychees for sale at Gourmet Market – Siam Paragon Shopping Center, said: “We hope to have Vietnamese lychees for sale every year because the quality of Vietnamese lychees is the best. In fact, this year’s output of Vietnamese lychees is not as high as last year, but fortunately, we signed contracts with farmers last year. That is why we have lychees here to meet the expectations of customers in Thailand.”

Mr. Pumin also said that although the price of imported lychees this year is slightly higher than last year, his company is still trying to keep the selling price to consumers the same as last year so that more customers can enjoy Vietnamese lychees.

The sweet and juicy fresh lychees not only attract Thai consumers but also tourists from many countries. Ms. Debby, a tourist from Singapore, said: “We are traveling in Thailand and were introduced to Vietnamese lychees sold here. I tried them and found them really sweet. I have never seen Vietnamese lychees in Singapore before. I hope they will bring Vietnamese lychees to Singapore and I can buy them at the supermarket.”

In addition, in an effort to make Vietnamese lychees more widely known in the Thai market, a country known as the kingdom of tropical fruits, Gourmet Market has collaborated with Mam Initiative – a project of a group of young Vietnamese people passionate about building Vietnamese agricultural product brands – to launch the first promotional campaign “The best lychees from Vietnam” in Thailand in 2024.

The campaign includes hand-drawn advertising images and especially a set of lychee stickers with many different funny expressions expressed in Thai to introduce the unique flavor of Vietnamese lychees that users can download for free on some messaging applications such as Viber, WhatsApp, etc. This is a new promotional method to reach local consumers in Thailand. The campaign will be promoted throughout the time the batch of Bac Giang lychees is imported weekly and consumed in Bangkok from June 15 to the end of July.

According to Mr. Truong Duc, head of the strategy team of Mam Initiative, the group’s desire is to contribute to innovating traditional trade promotion methods through the application of technology and creative ideas. In the coming time, Mam Initiative hopes to continue to carry out more creative and meaningful agricultural product promotion campaigns to join hands with the community to bring Vietnamese agricultural products to more countries around the world.
