UN Human Rights Council reports on former Johnny’s sexual assault case: “Relief for victims is insufficient”

On the 26th, at the United Nations Human Rights Council held in Switzerland, a working group investigating human rights violations in Japan reported the results of its investigation into the sexual assault issue at the former Johnny & Associates Entertainment, stating that “relief for victims has been insufficient.”

At the United Nations Human Rights Council, the Working Group on Business and Human Rights reported the results of its investigation into human rights violations in Japan.

In the report, the report stated that with regard to the issue of sexual assault by Johnny Kitagawa, former president of the former Johnny & Associates Entertainment, “the relief measures for the hundreds of former entertainers who have been sexually assaulted are insufficient,” and that stronger efforts must be made by both the public and private sectors to quickly address the issue.

Former Johnny’s Jr. member Akira Nihonju, who was one of the first victims to report the issue, also attended the meeting and made a video message in English saying, “It is important to create a society where victims of sexual assault can speak out without being ignored or slandered.”
