London: UK to restrict arms exports to Israel The U.K. said it was imposing restrictions on exports over fears Israel would use the weapons to violate international law.

UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy has announced that 30 of the 350 licenses to export arms to Israel are being revoked. The decision could affect exports of fighter jets, helicopters and drones. He added that the UK still supports Israel’s right to self-defense.

The Israeli minister responded to the BBC that the restrictions on exports would send the wrong message.

The Israeli minister said that such a decision came in the context of the recovery of the bodies of six hostages from the tunnel of Hamas.

He added that Hamas is a threat even on the streets of the UK. However, human rights group Amnesty International has called for the UK to impose more restrictions. Israel has carried out widespread attacks in Gaza in violation of international law. Various international organizations had come out with a huge protest against this.
