Google wants to revolutionize the way we write messages: The Magic Compose function, introduced at the I/O developer conference, is now available worldwide for Google Messages. However, there is still an important limitation to the AI text suggestions.
Google Messages with AI text suggestions
Google now offers Magic Compose outside the USA. Both “magic text suggestions” An AI analyzes up to 20 sent messages, emojis and links to automatically generate the appropriate response. Users no longer have to type themselves.
Magic Compose not only provides suggestions, but also allows users to edit their texts Write in one of seven styles allow. Google calls these styles Remix, Excited, Chill, Shakespeare, Lyrical, Formal or Short.
According to Google, messages with attachments, voice messages and images remain in place. You will not sent to Google’s servers. Only image captions and voice transcriptions can be used for AI suggestions (Source: 9to5Google).
The Handling Magic Compose is kept simple: In the text field of Google Messages there is a new chat bubble next to the emoji symbol. AI-generated answer suggestions are presented here, which can be edited if necessary. If there is no suitable suggestion, Magic Compose allows you to rewrite the draft in the desired style. Before sending, the message can be edited manually again.

Magic Compose only in English for now
Although the magical text suggestions can now be used outside of the US, they are still in beta only in English and on Android available. Users must also be logged into their Google account. Google has not yet announced when German will be supported as a language (source: Google Messages help).
