Officials in Peshawar say that the explosion took place in the Nasir Bagh area near the Peshawar board market, two people were killed and another was injured.
Pakistani media reported on Sunday, March 10 (20th) that the explosion took place “near Board Bazaar” and was a suicide attack.
However, Peshawar police officials said that the nature and purpose of the explosion are not yet clear. The police said that the health condition of the injured person is not good.
Eyewitnesses said that the explosion was so powerful that the sound was heard far away.
Peshawar Police Chief Kashif Aftab Abbasi told the media that four to five kilograms of explosives were used in this blast.
But without giving any other details, he said that these explosions took place while the explosives were being transported.
Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Amin Khan Gandapur have condemned the blast.
Gandapur in a statement called this explosion a “terrorist” incident.
So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the blast, but various groups, including the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), are active in this area.
Islamabad always says that the leaders of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan are in Afghanistan and from there they are planning their attacks on Pakistani soil. But the Afghan Taliban say that they will not allow any group to use the territory of Afghanistan against any other country.
