On the 12th, Republican presidential candidate and former president Trump resumed posting on Twitter (formerly Twitter) for the first time in about a year. “Is life better now than when I was president? The economy is in ruins, borders are gone, and America is in decline,” he wrote.

The post was made ahead of a discussion on the 12th with Elon Musk, CEO of electric vehicle maker Tesla, who has declared his support for Trump. It is believed that the tweet was made out of consideration for Musk, who also owns an X.

Trump mainly posts on Truth Social, a social networking site he founded, and it is unclear whether he will increase the frequency of his posts on X.

Trump had not posted since August 24, 2019, when he posted a photo of his own mug shot (a photo of his face taken at the time of arrest, etc.) on X, taken as a defendant in a case involving interference in the 2020 presidential election. (Kyodo News)
