[Comment from Tomohiro Okada, the 13th president of Kyoto Tachibana University]
My name is Tomohiro Okada and I have been appointed as the 13th president of Kyoto Tachibana University. When I started my student life in Kyoto, our university was a women’s university with a single faculty of literature. It became co-educational and has now developed into a comprehensive university with nine faculties, 15 departments, and five graduate schools, including medical and engineering departments.
This was made possible through the cumulative efforts of past presidents, school board presidents, faculty, staff, alumni, parents, and students, as well as the support of related organizations. While inheriting the results of these efforts, I would like to take advantage of the strengths of a comprehensive university and further evolve our university’s academic philosophy of “independence, coexistence, and clinical knowledge.” While valuing each individual who makes up the university, we will strive to create a university that is uniquely Kyoto Tachibana and is rooted in the land of Kyoto.
