Nonaka Ikumo (27), a female combined climber, won her second consecutive Olympic ticket at the final round of the Paris Olympic Qualifying Series held in Budapest, Hungary, and returned to Japan on the 25th. Nonaka expressed her joy, saying, “I’m very happy to have achieved my goal of securing an Olympic spot.”

Nonaka won a silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics three years ago. He was the top Japanese athlete in the additional sport climbing event, and expressed his enthusiasm for the Paris Olympics by saying, “I want to try my best again to experience the excitement of the Olympics and aim for an even higher medal.”

There is about one month until the start of the competition. When asked how she felt, Japan’s proud female climber said, “I’m really excited about the time until Paris. I feel like I can get even stronger even in this one month, so I have high hopes for myself.” She showed confidence in winning the gold medal.
