TNL
announced on the 2nd that it signed a business agreement (MOU) with Slovenian company Parma Hemp regarding the hemp extract (cannabinoid, CBD) business.
TNL signed a Memorandum of Understanding for cooperation in the development and production of advanced patches containing Parmahemp and cannabis extracts in Ljubljana, Slovenia, in the presence of the Slovenian Minister of Economy.
This collaboration is a project that has been underway since 2022, with the goal of developing advanced cosmetics and medical devices. The two companies are developing advanced hydrocolloids, plastisols, and microneedle patches containing purified cannabis extracts. These products are expected to provide a wide range of effects on various skin problems.
At the signing ceremony, TNL CEO Choi Yoon-so said, “TNL established TNL Europe with the goal of developing skincare products containing CBD and chose Slovenia as the starting point,” adding, “We look forward to continuing our collaboration with Parma Hemp in Slovenia in the future.”
CBD is one of the substances derived from cannabis. It is known to have calming effects, pain reduction, and skin beauty effects. In Korea, research on cannabis substances is not active due to regulations on narcotic substances, but considerable research is already underway in European countries. In addition, various related products are being sold, such as creams for the skin, oils in the form of food, cosmetics, health supplements, and products for pets.
According to TNL, this MOU will accelerate the launch of new products that use hemp extracts in hydrocolloids, plastisols, and microneedles. To this end, the company expects to build a hemp extract-related product production facility in Marbor, Slovenia, within this year, and sales of related products will begin next year.
