Tmax announced on the 2nd that it had appointed former Korail Distribution CEO Kim Young-tae (pictured) as the CEO of its subsidiary Tmax A&C.

Tmax A&C is the company responsible for the market expansion strategy of Tmax’s super app platform, ‘Gaia.’ Tmax calls the platform where ordinary people can freely create and operate apps a super app. The goal is to launch Gaia as a business-to-consumer (B2C) transaction product next year. Tmax A&C is in charge of developing or operating platforms such as cloud, artificial intelligence (AI), metaverse, and fintech within the Tmax Group.

CEO Kim, who has a background in journalism, served as the head of Hanssem Communications and Vice President of Qupang Communications and CSR. He said, “I will work with Tmax, a native IT company, as it works to block the monopoly of big tech in the AI global war and expand its influence in overseas markets.” Tmax said, “CEO Kim has proven management innovation and achievements in various sectors including media, corporations, government, and public institutions,” and “We believe he will be a great force in the group’s transformation and development of the global market.”

This personnel change is part of the restructuring of the business structure centered on Gaia and the strengthening of capabilities following the reacquisition of TmaxSoft. TmaxData, a Tmax affiliate, purchased a 61% stake in TmaxSoft for approximately KRW 800 billion last month. It was reacquired after selling it to Skylake Equity Partners, a private equity fund. Tmax has successfully developed more than 10 types of software, including middleware and database management systems, based on domestic technology.
