A dream room filled with retro toys
“Well then, what about me? Is my room also a kid’s room uncle?” said a man in his 20s, Tanisu-TANISU- (@SWM_2600a), who posted a picture of his room on X.
The room is filled with nostalgic medal game cabinets that were once found in game centers, and the walls are covered with retro goods such as masks and Famicom game cartridges.
So what?
Do you think this room of mine is also called the children’s room uncle? pic.twitter.com/bDAG9S1HNc— Tanisuđź’ˇ-TANISU- (@SWM_2600a) May 13, 2024
Rather than a child’s room, it is a room that children would be happy to live in. The lineup is likely to appeal to people in their 30s and 40s, but Tanisu himself is in his 20s. Why did he decide to create this room?
“I had a tendency to collect things from an early age, but as far as I can remember, I started to seriously collect things when I was in second grade. I think it all started when I discovered the Nintendo DS software Namco Museum DS. I’d always preferred older games from my generation, so I was blown away by the simple gameplay and the appealing music and pixel art. Shortly after that, I discovered a Super Nintendo at my parents’ house, and that’s when I started to get interested in the world of retro games.” (Tanisu, same below)

At first, Tanisu would buy cheap software that caught his eye from game stores and second-hand shops every week, play a little bit, and repeat this cycle. Eventually, he became interested in various content other than games, and before he knew it, he was enjoying collecting retro games in general, character goods from the past, and Showa-era goods, and so on, which eventually became his main purpose in life.
Among the items he has collected over a period of more than 10 years, the most expensive item is an Anpanman “telephone cabinet.” It is a game in which you call Anpan on the screen and give him instructions, and you get cards when you play.
