Information said the fire occurred at about 5:07 a.m. local time (9:07 a.m. Hanoi time). Firefighters quickly arrived at the scene and the fire was completely extinguished at 1:53 p.m. the same day. The fire burned down the entire 240 square meter house, where people working at the farming complex lived. The Moscow Oblast Emergency Department said that the most likely cause of the fire was an electrical short circuit. Local authorities later also confirmed this preliminary cause.
According to the Vietnam News Agency correspondent in Moscow, the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations stated: “At the time the first firefighting unit arrived at the scene, the iron frame buildings were covered by fire.” By 1:53 p.m., the entire fire had been completely extinguished.” A representative of the Provincial Emergency Situation Agency confirmed that the fire had killed 8 victims and injured 1 person. TASS news agency cited sources from the agency. Local officials said: “The burned building is where foreign workers live. They work in greenhouses growing tulips. Among these workers may be Vietnamese citizens. The land where the fire occurred is owned by an Azerbaijani citizen.”
Authorities are currently verifying the identities of the deceased victims. Representatives of the Vietnamese Embassy in Russia went to the scene and actively conducted work verifying information about Vietnamese victims.
Previously, a source from the Vietnamese Embassy in the Russian Federation said that according to initial information, there were 18 Vietnamese workers working at a greenhouse that caught fire on the outskirts of Moscow.
