The Vietnamese Embassy requested Russian authorities to support Vietnamese people in treatment and testing for the SARS-CoV-2 virus

Since the first case of suspected SARS-CoV-2 virus infection in the Vietnamese community in Moscow was announced at the end of last March, up to now the number of infected people in the Vietnamese community in Russia, especially in Moscow, has increased rapidly.

According to data from the COVID-19 Prevention Steering Committee of the Vietnamese Embassy in Russia updated from the community, as of April 15, there were about 100 cases of Vietnamese people in Russia hospitalized for pneumonia treatment. common and pneumonia caused by SARS-CoV-2 virus. Of these, there are at least 80 cases in Moscow who self-reported having received positive results for the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Notably, many people due to their stable health situation are recommended to be treated at home as recommended by doctors.

The recent increase in epidemics in Russia as well as in the Vietnamese community has made many people worried. The Vietnamese Embassy has discussed with Russian authorities requesting to continue providing Vietnamese citizens with necessary and timely medical help in examination, testing and treatment of COVID-19.

Previously, the Vietnamese Embassy in Russia regularly informed the Vietnamese community and provided necessary support when requested.



As of April 15, Russia recorded 24,490 cases of the disease in 84 regions across the country, including 198 deaths. In addition, a total of 1,986 patients have recovered from the disease. Faced with overcrowding at hospitals and medical centers in Moscow, the Government of the Russian Federation has put into operation additional treatment centers to overcome this situation.

To date, the Russian Federation has performed more than 1.5 million SARS-CoV-2 virus tests across the country. Leading the way is Moscow city with 395,034 tests, followed by Moscow province with 145,574 tests and Saint Petersburg city with 80,826 tests.

The Russian consumer rights monitoring agency said that in recent days Moscow province has become a hot spot in the number of infections with a 36% increase. In particular, up to 54% of medical examination rooms in this province became a source of infection. Russian authorities immediately took measures to isolate the source of SARS-CoV-2 virus infection identified in Moscow province.
