A sports festival for people with disabilities who have various hardships and handicaps, such as a Ukrainian athlete who lost his left leg and an athlete who trained in the devastated Gaza Strip, has begun. A handmade flip chart will explain the appeal of this tournament, including events unique to the Paralympics and events that are expected to break world records set by able-bodied athletes.
The symbol is the “Three Agitos”
The symbol of the Paralympics displayed on the Arc de Triomphe is the “Three Agitos.” “Agitos” means “I move” in Latin, and represents athletes who continue to take on challenges.
This time, a Ukrainian athlete who lost his left leg in the Russian invasion will be competing, as well as the only shot put athlete from the Gaza Strip in Palestine, who was shot by an Israeli soldier and became partially paralyzed, but has continued to practice using rubble. Including these athletes, the Paris Games will feature approximately 4,400 athletes from a record 168 countries and regions (including the refugee team).
