Alappuzha ∙ Kerala has sought the help of the central government for the Malayali youth who went missing from the cargo ship SSI Resolute, which was going from Odisha to China under mysterious circumstances. Vishnu Babu (25), the youngest son of Babu Karunakaran and Sindhu, went missing last Wednesday night in Vrindavan.

This cargo ship belongs to Chennai-based Dansai Marine Cargo Shipping Company. Vishnu was hired as a trainee viper on May 25. On Wednesday at 7:30 pm, he called home and talked to his parents. The next morning, the ship authorities contacted the family and informed them that Vishnu was missing the night before. The ship was between Malaysia and Singapore at the time. Officials indicate that neither Malaysia nor Singapore is taking responsibility for finding Vishnu. The ship is now in Singapore.

KC Venugopal MP and Collector Alex Varghese contacted the central authorities and sought help. After contacting the Central Shipping and Foreign Ministries, Venugopal also contacted the Shipping Company. The Indian High Commissioner in Malaysia was also called. It is reported that Vishnu’s shoes were found on the deck of the ship and footprints were found a little away. The ship authorities concluded that Vishnu fell into the sea. Not sure if it’s dangerous. Vishnu was happy when spoken to on the phone on Wednesday, family members said. Father Babu Karunakaran filed a complaint with the Chief Minister asking the state to intervene to find Vishnu.
