The famous Japanese architect Toyo Ito, who won the Pritzker Architecture Prize, has run a children’s private school in Japan for 12 years. The two were connected because the Ministry of Culture was planning to build the “National Children’s Future Museum”. In order to exchange opinions with the new Minister of Culture in person, the 83-year-old Toyo Ito even made a special appearance on the stage to start a dialogue between architects and writers with Li Yuan. He wanted to Building a building that “makes all adults and children feel very happy” shows the full intentions of two “grandfather-level” senior cultural figures.

In order to create the country’s first exclusive children’s cultural venue, the Executive Yuan plans the “National Children’s Future Pavilion”. Toyo Ito gave him a collection of his architectural works in return. He said that he observed that children are happiest when they are “thrown outdoors.” Therefore, the biggest goal in designing the Children’s Museum is to still feel like they are outdoors when they go indoors. In the children’s studio, you can get close to the forest and water. After playing on the grass, you can lie down and look at the sky, bounce on the clouds, and experience adventure with your body and hands.

Li Yuan said that during the architectural design stage of the children’s museum, the Ministry of Culture also invited consultants such as display content and children’s majors to start thinking about what kind of content should be displayed to children in the future.
