Coast Guard: “First held in Korea”… 21 countries participating
The Asia Maritime Affairs and Security Agency Heads’ Meeting (HACGAM) opened on the 3rd. This is the first time the Asia Maritime Affairs and Security Agency Heads’ Meeting is being held in Korea.
The Korea Coast Guard announced that the 20th Asia Maritime Security Agency Chiefs’ Conference opened at Paradise City in Jung-gu, Incheon.
The meeting, attended by heads of maritime security agencies from 21 countries including Korea, Japan, China, and France, as well as international organizations, will be held until the 6th.
The Asia Maritime Security Agency Heads’ Meeting is the only multilateral maritime cooperation body in Asia, established in 2004 to promote cooperation in maritime crime prevention and rescue.
In this meeting, experts in five fields, including maritime crime prevention, search and rescue, environmental protection, information sharing, and capacity building, will discuss in-depth ways to cooperate to ensure maritime security and safety.
Commissioner General of the Korea Coast Guard Kim Jong-wook said, “At this Asia Maritime Security Agency Chiefs’ Meeting, the Korea Coast Guard will explore a wide range of areas of cooperation in maritime security and safety, and response to international crime, and strengthen international cooperation.”
