The Spring High Volleyball Tournament finals were held in January this year. It was in the third set, when Sundai Gakuen High School had taken the first two sets.
As the rally continued, the opposing setter tossed the ball high to the left where the ace was waiting, and Kameoka, who was in the center of the back court, took four steps back and prepared for a spike outside the end line.
Then, the opponent’s attack, which was a one-touch pass, flew right to where Kameoka was waiting. When he returned the ball to the setter and scored a point, the crowd roared. On SNS (Internet social networking service), people were amazed at his “precognitive ability.”
After the match, Kameoka looked back on the match with a calm look on his mind, saying, “The opponent’s ace was a player who would blow away opponents with his power even if they had a good block, so I was aiming for that.”
She started playing volleyball in her first year of elementary school. Both of her parents were in the volleyball club until they reached university. From an early age, she would join her mother’s volleyball team and her older sister’s practice, so it was a natural progression for her to start playing the sport.
