Spectacular races in the gravel pit

The MSC Amtzell organized the spectacular enduro race over two days in the Grenis gravel pit near Amtzell. Here the club attracted visitors with a route more than six kilometers long, which led through the gravel pit itself, the surrounding forest and parcels of land. According to the announcement, a very special highlight was a built-in special test with tree trunks and a field of stones, which turned out to be a real key point and was particularly interesting for numerous spectators.

Many pilots are happy to start as a team; it brings the drivers together and makes it even more fun.

The four-hour enduro, which is very popular among drivers, took place on Saturday. Two drivers in each team started here. Or you could face the four hours as an individual rider in the marathon class. Registration had to be closed two weeks before the race because the field of 250 starters was already full. “Many pilots are happy to start in a team, it brings the drivers together and makes it even more fun,” says Klaus Schmehl, chairman of the MSC Amtzell.

The route really required a lot of skill from the enduro pilots: sand, gravel, steep ascents and descents, bridges, jumps, tree trunks – a wide variety of terrain. The fastest drivers needed just 10:30 minutes per lap. After 4:08.11 hours, Robert Scharl and Philipp Schneider crossed the finish line as winners with 22 laps.

Some victories by the hosts

In the youth class, David Ortlieb and Benjamin Schmehl from the host MSC Amtzell are clear leaders. According to the announcement, the two probably copied this from their fathers, who came in first (Michael Ortlieb/Thomas Günther) and fourth (Klaus Schmehl/Moritz Hess) in the senior class. The other drivers from MSC Amtzell, Stefan Staudacher and Alexander Schmid, were represented in a strong second place. In the women’s class, victory also went to MSC Amtzell drivers: Samantha Buhmann and Lara Eder won by one lap.

The ADAC CC Enduro Cup South took place on Sunday. The route was prepared again in the morning and by now it had dried out a bit. In two runs, a total of 200 drivers took part in a two-hour individual race after the starting signal. “We are extremely satisfied. Without our many helpers and the property owners who let us drive on their land, such a weekend would not be possible. We would like to thank everyone very much,” said Klaus Schmehl.
