[February 6, KOREA WAVE]South Korea’s Kia Motors is participating in the defense industry exhibition “WDS2024 (WorldDefenseShow2024)”, which is being held in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, until the 8th. “WDS” will be held for the second time following 2022. More than 900 companies around the world are participating.
Kia Motors, which is participating under the theme of “Mobility for the safe movement of all those who protect peace,” unveiled its “medium-sized standard vehicle” for the first time overseas.
The “medium-sized standard vehicle” has the maneuverability to quickly cross rivers up to 1 meter deep and has the capacity to carry up to 16 people. It can be made into various types depending on the purpose of use, and custom-made molds can be manufactured.
At this exhibition, Kia Motors unveiled two types: the basic model, the “4X4 vehicle,” and the “bare chassis,” which has only the frame and powertrain installed.
Also exhibited at the same time were a “Small Tactical Vehicle Armored Search Vehicle” and “Hydrogen ATV (All-Terrain Vehicle) Concept Car.”
“Small tactical vehicles” are vehicles that support the safe movement of troops in a variety of environments based on their powerful power performance. It was recently adopted as a military vehicle in Poland and was recognized for its excellent marketability.
In addition, the “Small Tactical Vehicle Armored Search Vehicle” features safety specifications such as reinforced bulletproof glass and explosion pressure relief seats, which further enhances maneuverability and crew survivability.
The “Hydrogen ATV Concept Car” is an eco-car powered by hydrogen fuel cells, which produces relatively less noise and heat than existing internal combustion engine vehicles, and has a lightweight body that eliminates the ceiling and doors, making it ideal for use in dangerous areas. It also allows for faster and safer movement.
A Kia Motors official said, “This time, we have unveiled a variety of special vehicles that support the safe and sustainable movement of the military, including medium-sized standard vehicles, small tactical vehicles, and armored search vehicles.We will continue to apply various innovative technologies in the future. By developing special vehicles, we will continue to present a vision for the future of military mobility.”
