South Korean military denies North Korea’s claim of successful test of multiple warhead missile: “Deception”

North Korea’s claim yesterday that it had tested a multiple-warhead missile successfully has been dismissed by the South Korean military as a “deception.”

North Korea’s Korean Central News Agency reported this morning that it had successfully conducted a separation and guidance test of a multiple-warhead missile on the 26th.

In response, the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff said that the missile did not fly normally and exploded in the early stages, and dismissed the North Korean claims as “deception and exaggeration.” Furthermore, they said that the missile used a solid-fuel engine and that the photos published on the site may have been doctored.

South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff analyzed the background of the North Korean reports as “an attempt to cover up” the facts of the launch of a military reconnaissance satellite last month and the failed missile launch yesterday.
