Karachi: Muhammad Yusuf has resigned as Pakistan cricket team selector. Yusuf, who is also a former captain, explained that the resignation was due to personal reasons.
“Announces resignation as selector of Pakistan cricket team due to personal reasons. It is a great honor to serve this team. “I am proud to contribute to the growth and success of Pakistan cricket,” Muhammad Yusuf wrote in X while announcing his resignation.
Yusuf took charge as a selector in March 2024. After Pakistan’s elimination in the preliminary round of the Twenty20 World Cup, former players Wahab Riaz and Abdul Razak were expelled and the selection committee was reconstituted. However, Yusuf and Azad Shafiq were retained.
Recently, the selection committee was heavily criticized after the Pakistani team lost 2-0 in the Test series against Bangladesh at home. After the selection of the team for the first match of the Test series against England, there was severe criticism. This is followed by the resignation announcement.
Muhammad Yusuf is one of the legendary players who have seen Pakistan cricket. Yusuf has scored more than 17000 runs in 90 Tests, 288 ODIs and three Twenty20s for the country.
