Shelling in the Belgian capital left two dead

Police in Brussels, the capital of Belgium, said on Sunday, March 24 (the fifth month) that two people were killed as a result of shootings related to drug crimes.

The spokesperson of the police said that one person was killed as a result of the shooting in the north of Brussels and a few hours later, another person who was wounded by a bullet died in a hospital in the center of Brussels.

But the authorities did not provide more information in this regard and did not say whether the people killed were civilians or members of criminal groups.

The police said that since February, there have been at least six shooting incidents in Brussels, one of which was fatal.

The Brussels police added that this city has not witnessed such violence in the past, but this situation has been linked to the trade and use of drugs in this city. The police said that the use of cocaine on the streets of Brussels has become increasingly popular.

The port of Antwerp, Belgium, is considered to be the main gateway to Europe for cocaine, and there is always violence associated with criminal groups involved in the illegal drug trade.

If the Brussels authorities are under pressure to act in this regard, they will announce the new strategy on February 27.

Sophie Lavaux, a senior security official in Brussels, said that violence is unacceptable in this city.
