This year’s Hurun India Rich List also features Bollywood stars as Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani overtakes Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani as India’s richest man. Amitabh Bachchan, Karan Johar, Hrithik Roshan and Juhi Chawla are on the list where Bollywood’s King Shah Rukh Khan has appeared for the first time.
Shahrukh is leading among them with assets worth Rs 7,300 crore. Apart from being a film star, Shahrukh is also the owner of Red Chillies Entertainment and Kolkata Knight Riders, an IPL cricket team. Knightriders are co-owned by Juhi Chawla and her family, who are second with a net worth of Rs 4,600 crore.
Hrithik Roshan is third with a net worth of Rs 2,000 crore. Hrithik owns a sports product brand called HRX. Amitabh Bachchan and his family are at the fourth position. 1,600 crore in assets. Dharma Productions chief and director Karan Yash Johar is fifth with Rs 1,400 crore.
1,539 people with assets of Rs 1,000 crore
In this year’s Hurun India Rich List, there are 1,539 people with assets above Rs 1,000 crore. In 2023, there were 1,319 people. There were 100 people in 2012 and 230 people in 2014. This year there are 534 people with assets above Rs 5,000 crore. Last year there were 408 people. There are 334 people on this year’s list of dollar billionaires (those with a net worth of more than $1 billion/or Rs 8,400 crore). In 2023, there were 259 people.
Fewer young people among the rich
According to this year’s list, 79 percent of the rich are over 50. 32.7% are between 61-70 years of age. 8.5% in the age group of 41-50. 3.2% in the age group of 31-40. Only 0.6% are under 30.
Septo Sarathi and 21-year-old Kaivalya Vora is the youngest billionaire on the list. Septo’s own Adit Paleecha is at the second position with 22 years of age.
