Seven of the 10 major electric power companies will reduce electricity bills for July due to falling fuel prices for thermal power plants.
According to the major electric power companies, for the average household’s July usage of “regulated rates” which require national approval, compared to the previous month, Hokkaido Electric Power Company remained flat, Tohoku Electric Power Company, down 47 yen to 8,808 yen, Tokyo Electric Power Company, down 57 yen to 8,873 yen, Chubu Electric Power Company, down 78 yen to 8,613 yen, Hokuriku Electric Power Company, down 18 yen to 7,740 yen, Kansai Electric Power Company, remained flat, Chugoku Electric Power Company, down 34 yen to 8,480 yen, Shikoku Electric Power Company, down 16 yen to 8,579 yen, Kyushu Electric Power Company, up 2 yen to 7,553 yen, and Okinawa Electric Power Company, down 38 yen to 9,625 yen.
Seven out of 10 companies saw their prices fall, due in part to the drop in the price of liquefied natural gas (LNG), which is used in thermal power generation.
In addition, all four major gas companies will be reducing city gas rates for next month in response to the fall in LNG prices.
For the average household, Tokyo Gas will fall by 61 yen to 5,916 yen, Osaka Gas will fall by 62 yen to 6,467 yen, Toho Gas will fall by 62 yen to 6,733 yen, and Nishi-Nippon Gas will fall by 48 yen to 6,624 yen.
