On the final day of the Waste Management Phoenix Open on the US golf tour on February 12 at the TPC Scottsdale Golf Club (par 71) in Scottsdale, Arizona, American Scottie Scheffler shot a 65 for a total of 19 under par, winning the tournament for the second consecutive year and reclaiming the world number one ranking.
Scheffler’s victory is his fifth overall since last year’s Masters Tournament. He is the first player to win consecutive Phoenix Open titles since Hideki Matsuyama in 2017. He beat Nick Taylor (Canada) on the back nine and ultimately won by two strokes. He has now reclaimed the world No. 1 ranking he lost to Rory McIlroy (Northern Ireland) in October last year.
Jon Rahm of Spain, who could have risen to number one in the world with a win, shot a 68 to finish third at 14 under par.
