Sailor Moon voice actress reveals treasured merchandise

Rika Fukami is a voice actress who has voiced Sailor Venus (Aino Minako), Flan from the popular game series Final Fantasy XII, and Angelina Jolie and Catherine Zeta-Jones in foreign films. Currently working as a freelance voice actress, she is also active in a wide range of fields, including supervising the voice acting course at Seika Gakuen High School.

On May 11th, she posted on X, “I found this while I was decluttering. It’s a 1997 calendar. Kodansha sent it to me and I haven’t opened it yet. Can I open it?” It was a Sailor Moon Sailor Stars calendar from 1997.

It has not yet been opened from the cardboard box and is thought to be quite a rare treasure, with fans making an uproar, saying things like “Wow! This is an incredible, rare treasure”, “Amazing! This is a rare find. I’d like to see what’s inside, but I wonder if that will change the value?”, “It’s so nostalgic!! I want them to open it, but I’m also excited to see what will happen if they appraise it as is”, and “I think the day of the week will be the same next year. Let’s keep it secret until next year!”

We interviewed Fukami directly about this matter and asked him how he came to obtain the calendar.

“I thought about opening it, but the calendar I posted is still unopened. At the time, there was a Kodansha version and a Toei Animation version, and I still have the Toei Animation version unopened. Although I say it’s unopened, it’s just rolled up.

At the time, the anime was very popular, and a lot of merchandise was being produced, so Kodansha, Toei Animation, and Bandai would send us new merchandise at various times. It was fun to compete with each other by playing rock-paper-scissors to get them,” said Fukami.
