The Russian Permanent Mission to International Organizations in Vienna announced on the 9th via a communication app that it had notified the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) that what appeared to be debris from a shot-down missile was found on the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant site in Kursk Oblast, western Russia, on the 8th.

On the 6th, Ukrainian troops entered the Kursk Oblast and began a cross-border attack. The delegation stated that at present there are no direct attacks on the city of Kurchatov in the oblast, where the Kursk nuclear power plant is located, the nuclear plant, or infrastructure facilities. It criticized Ukraine’s “reckless actions that threaten Russian nuclear facilities.”

The Kursk Nuclear Power Plant is located at least 60 kilometers from the Ukrainian border, and there is no information that the Ukrainian military has reached it. Security authorities at the nuclear plant have stepped up their vigilance following the cross-border attack. (Kyodo News)
