India had lost in the second ODI between India and Sri Lanka. After the draw in the first match and losing the second match, victory in the third match is inevitable for India. Although India lost the second ODI, skipper Rohit Sharma gave a good performance.

Chasing 241 runs, India’s opening batsman Rohit Sharma gave a good start. Rohit, who played aggressively from the start, scored 64 runs from 44 balls and left the field. Rohit Sharma has broken a record of Sachin Tendulkar by completing a half-century in the match.

Rohit has broken the record of being the player who has completed the most half-centuries after playing in the opening position for India. Sachin opened for India with 120 fifties in different formats. The Indian skipper has surpassed Sachin Tendulkar by scoring half-centuries in both the matches against Lanka. Hitman stands tall among Indian openers with 121 fifties. Rohit Sharma has scored half-centuries in three different formats. Rohit Sharma played 353 innings as an opener while Sachin played 342 innings.

Legendary opener Sunil Gavaskar is third with 101 fifties. India’s fireman Virender Sehwag is fourth with as many fifties and Shikhar Dhawan is fifth with 79.
