REFER REPORT
The Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan announced on the 29th that Representative Yoshihiko Noda will hold talks within the Diet on the 30th with Japan Restoration Party Representative Nobuyuki Baba and Communist Party Chairman Tomoko Tamura. We request Mr. Noda to vote for him in the special Diet session’s prime minister nomination election. A meeting with Yuichiro Tamaki, representative of the Democratic Party of the People, is currently being arranged.
In the House of Representatives election, Mr. Noda appealed that “a change of government is the greatest political reform,” in light of the Liberal Democratic Party’s slush fund scandal. The aim is to demonstrate unity among the opposition parties after the ruling party achieved its goal of breaking the majority.
Mr. Tamaki, a citizen who won 28 seats in the House of Representatives election, has indicated that he will write “Yuichiro Tamaki” in both the first and final elections for the nomination of prime minister. For this reason, it will be difficult for Noda to gain more votes than Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba. (Kyodo News)
