Allianz Arena: Bayern Munich are out of the German Cup after losing to arch-rivals Bayer Leverkusen. Defending champions Leverkusen beat Bayern with an unanswered goal. With the win, Leverkusen reached the quarter-finals.
Bayern suffered a setback when veteran goalkeeper Manuel Neuer was sent off in the 17th minute. Leverkusen had to wait until the 69th minute for the winning goal even though the opponents were reduced to ten men. Former Burnley and Southampton striker Nathan Tella scored the team’s winning goal.
Alex Grimaldo scored a cross into the box. Bayern were without top scorer Harry Kane who was injured. Had many opportunities to equalize the match but failed to capitalize. Even with ten men, Bayern was ahead in possession and shots on goal.

Neuer was sent off for a foul on Jeremy Frimpong. This is the eighth consecutive victory for Leverkusen and coach Xabi Alonso in the German Cup. Bayern have won the German Cup 20 times. The last title was won in 2020.
