Paris: Aman Sehrawat became the proud star of India in wrestling. Aman won bronze in men’s 57kg freestyle wrestling.

Aman beat Puerto Rico’s Darian Cruz. Aman won 13-5. This is India’s sixth medal in the Paris Olympics.

Aman entered the semi-finals by beating world champion Selimkhan Abakarov 12-0, but could not hold off world number one and world champion Higuchi of Japan. But in the bronze medal match, Puerto Rico won easily against the player.

This is Asian Games gold medalist Aman Sehrawat’s first Olympics. Aman is also the only Indian male wrestler to have qualified for the Olympics.

Aman is the seventh Indian wrestler in Olympic history to win a medal. Indian Olympic wrestling medal history started in 1952 with KD Jadhav’s bronze. Sushil Kumar won a double medal by winning bronze in 2008 and silver in 2012. Yogeshwar Dutt in 2012, Sakshi Malik in 2016, Bajrang Punia won bronze in 2020 and Ravikumar Dahiya won silver in 2020.
