President Yoon Seok-yeol will hold a summit with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, who is visiting Korea on the 6th. This will be the 12th summit between President Yoon and Prime Minister Kishida.

The Office of the President said, “Prime Minister Kishida had hoped to visit Korea to discuss the direction of development between the two countries while concluding his term on a high note, and the meeting was held.”

President Yoon and Prime Minister Kishida will discuss ways for Korea-Japan cooperation during their meeting today.

The Office of the President said, “The two sides will look back on the achievements of Korea-Japan cooperation that have been made through 11 Korea-Japan summits so far and discuss the future direction of bilateral cooperation, regional cooperation, and global cooperation between Korea and Japan.”

As Prime Minister Kishida declared that he would not run in the Liberal Democratic Party presidential election to be held on the 27th, the meeting today is expected to be the last summit between the two leaders.

The Office of the President said that Prime Minister Kishida will continue to provide constructive advice to the new prime minister on his foreign policy and the future development of Japan-ROK relations.
