After President Ishiba announced that he would like to dissolve the House of Representatives and hold a vote count on October 27th, various voices were heard from Kochi Prefecture residents.

(People in the town)
“I think it was the right decision to (announce) the dissolution early.I think it would have been better to disband the council early, as if to question the will of the people, and in order to quickly choose who is the most suitable member of parliament.” I think so.”

(People in the town)
“Yesterday, the Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan was giving a speech (on the street), and I was wondering why the opposition party was doing this even though a new president had been chosen the other day. Then, they had just been disbanded, so there are still many issues to come. I’m thinking about thinking about it.”

(People in the town)
“There’s a lot of information out there on social media, so I want to understand that and think about it.”

(People in the town)
Q.What is the issue?
“Right now, prices are going up dramatically, so I would like to see improvements in that area.Wages also vary from prefecture to prefecture, so Kochi Prefecture is on the lower side and prices are high, so I would like to see improvements in that area. I wish you could do it.”

(People in the town)
Q.Will there be an election?
“I’m going. I don’t have any choice not to go to the election. I’m definitely going. I want to cast my honest vote.”

This is the reaction of each political party in Kochi Prefecture.

Former Liberal Democratic Party Kochi Prefecture Chairman Nakatani said, “This snap general election is an election that asks whether the current government is good enough. We will do our best to work as a coalition government of the Liberal Democratic Party and Komeito, and under President Ishiba, we will conduct politics for the people. I will do my best to make a change.”

(Komeito Party Kochi Prefecture Headquarters Representative Masakazu Nishimori)
“The ability of the Cabinet that will be inaugurated to take charge of (government) will be tested in this House of Representatives election. As far as constituencies are concerned, we will firmly support Mr. Nakatani and Mr. Ozaki (of the Liberal Democratic Party). I would like to do so, and I would also like to ask everyone in the Liberal Democratic Party to support Komeito in the proportional representation districts.”

(Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan Kochi Prefectural Federation Representative Norio Takeuchi)
“The nine people chose a method completely different from what they said in the presidential election. The current situation is that the Liberal Democratic Party’s politics and money have led to people distrusting politics. I want to do my best to advocate for a change in politics.”

Naoaki Haruna, chairman of the Japan Communist Party’s Kochi Prefectural Committee, said, “It is unthinkable for the party to be disbanded without serious deliberations on issues such as slush funds.Political trust has been lost from the people, and there is no countermeasure to deal with soaring prices. That’s why. I see this snap general election as an opportunity for the Communist Party to make strides and change the politics of the Liberal Democratic Party.”
