It has been reported that a proposal has been floated to bring forward the closing time of the gate that Yamanashi Prefecture installed this summer at the 5th station of the “Yoshida Route” mountain trail on the Yamanashi Prefecture side of Mt. Fuji from the current 4:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. next summer. This was revealed through interviews with multiple parties on the 28th. A final decision will be made after coordination with the local community and Shizuoka Prefecture, which is also considering introducing time restrictions.

The gate was installed to prevent crowds and “bullet-climbing” overnight climbs, but there were also many last-minute climbers just before the closure, and Nagasaki Governor Kotaro announced plans to move the climb forward. However, there is a risk that moving things forward may lead to a decrease in the number of customers at shops at the 5th station, so the focus is on the prefecture’s decision.
