The new i530 iron released by Ping Golf is gaining popularity as it is evaluated as having all the distance, feel, and forgiveness. The i530 iron has a sleek blade style and is designed for golfers who want to hit the ball farther. A forged face that takes a long time to manufacture is used because it is made by tapping iron directly. In addition to the muscle back design, a hollow structure design was applied for optimal weight distribution to maximize forgiveness.
The flexibility of the face was also maximized to increase ball speed and distance. The face using the metal wood method transfers more energy to the ball, creating a longer distance. Additionally, the arched sole design disperses the shock upon impact. The part that connects the face to the sole is thin. This is to provide high ball speed by maximizing flexibility and repulsion. Compared to Ping Golf’s existing irons, the back of the face was made more than 40% thinner to lower the center of gravity. The optimized center of gravity makes it possible to secure a stable trajectory even when the ball is not hit accurately on the field, and helps golfers achieve maximum distance.
This i530 iron is also equipped with Ping Golf’s trademark ‘Micromax Groove’ and is designed to ensure that the ball rotates at a consistent spin rate under any circumstances. Tungsten weights were installed here to increase forgiveness by shifting the weight to the heel and toe. Thanks to this technology, the direction of even missed shots is corrected. A Ping Golf official said, “Compared to the existing product, the i530 has increased the driving distance by an average of about 3 yards.” Another feature is that EVA polymer is placed inside the face to provide a soft feel and a pleasant sound.
The i530 iron is gaining popularity among golfers who are concerned about the distance that does not increase even though they have a lot of golf experience. We made it possible to choose from 10 angles, 3 types of shafts, and various grip sizes to suit the golfer’s body type and swing.
