Jyoti’s journey from Bhandara to Paris has been a tough one. She was a kabaddi player in her early years. She lost her left leg in a terrible accident in 2016. The accident left her depressed for two years, but she decided to re-enter the world of sports without giving up. Initially, she participated in para-rowing competition and won a bronze medal at the international level. After this, Jyoti turned to cycling.

Jyoti bagged 12 medals at international level. After this performance, she was expecting government help, but she did not get it. With the help of a private institute in Hyderabad, Jyoti continued her training and made it to the Paralympics. She qualified for the Paris Paralympics after winning a gold medal at the 2022 Para-Asian Games.

Although winning a medal in the Paralympic Games is a difficult task, I will definitely try my best to win a medal for the country. There are 16-17 women athletes in my sport. Due to that, this competition is going to be very tough. – Jyoti Gaderia, Para-cyclist.
