[Ta Kung Pao]According to the Associated Press, the French authorities held a press conference on the security of the Paris Olympics on the 21st. Paris Police Chief Nunes said that during the Olympics, France will deploy an average of 30,000 police officers and gendarmes every day to take charge of security work.

Nunes said France is currently maintaining the highest security alert level, and the threat from terrorism remains the main security concern, followed by possible protests by radical environmentalists and far-left or far-right organizations.

Nunes announced that Paris plans to deploy an average of 30,000 police and gendarmes every day during the Olympics, and on the opening day, the number will reach 45,000. In addition to the police and gendarmes, there will be 18,000 soldiers to reinforce Olympic security. This is also the largest military mobilization on French territory since the end of World War II.

French President Emmanuel Macron has dissolved the National Assembly and announced two rounds of voting for the new National Assembly on June 30 and July 7. In this regard, Nunes stressed that regardless of the election results, the Olympic security plan will not change.

The Paris Olympics will kick off on July 26, and the authorities plan to hold the opening ceremony on the Seine River for the first time in history. In addition, triathlon and open water swimming events are also planned to be held in the Seine River for the first time. However, Paris said that the water quality of the Seine River has not yet met the requirements, and the events may not be held.
