A Blu-ray release event commemorating the 40th anniversary of the broadcast of the 1984 special effects drama “Space Sheriff Shaider” was held on the 29th at Ikebukuro Club Mixa in Tokyo.
This work was produced by Toei as the third installment of the “Space Sheriff series” following “Space Sheriff Gavan” in 1982 and “Space Sheriff Sharivan” in 1983, and on this day, all three volumes of Blu-ray containing the TV series were released. BOX released. When the main character Dai Sawamura utters the word “sinter”, he transforms into Shaider in a stylish blue and silver combat suit, and along with his partner Annie, a female detective, fights against Fuma, a criminal organization planning to invade Earth. It’s a fighting masterpiece.
At the event, the cast and staff gathered together, including Naomi Morinaga, who plays Annie, and members of Fuma’s female warrior/gal corps, played by former actress Yoshimi Kawashima. Actors from Gavan and Sharivan also rushed in.
During the memory talk, Ms. Kawashima, who played Gal 3 in the Gal Corps, was excited about the behind-the-scenes story of how she was in charge on the set, and one of the Corps members said, “When Yoshimi says, “Gal, lunch!”, she follows me (to lunch). We had great teamwork. From that time on, Yoshimi was the one who took care of things,” he said, drawing laughter at how close they still are today.
After that, the stage begins, and Papaya Suzuki, a dancer and choreographer who calls himself the Mysterious Beast Payapaya, suddenly bursts in leading the Fuma army. An “improvised action show” was held where they fought Shaider and Annie in afro hair and cloaks.
Is there a connection between the mysterious beast that appeared as a guest and Shaider? In the midst of this, Hiroshi Watari, who starred in “Space Sheriff Sharivan,” announced that Papaya is the younger brother of Mr. Kawashima from the Gyaru Corps. The audience was surprised by the “second surprise,” and the venue was filled with roaring voices.
Mr. Kawashima is currently the president of the entertainment agency to which Papaya belongs, and is admirably “in charge” of his younger brother’s work.
