Panasonic Housing Solutions (PHS), a company that deals in residential equipment, announced on the 2nd that it has launched a nationwide service in collaboration with Mitsubishi Corporation that allows customers to ship items purchased on the flea market app “Mercari” using special delivery lockers installed in apartment complexes and detached homes.
To use the service, you need a PHS-designed delivery box that is compatible with Smari, the shipping and return service for e-commerce products that Mitsubishi Corporation offers at Lawson and other outlets.
Customers place items in the box and lock it with a one-time PIN code, and the delivery company uses the shared PIN code to retrieve the items.
By increasing the convenience of delivery lockers, PHS hopes to encourage their installation in homes that do not currently have them, and also to reduce the amount of redelivery work that parcel delivery companies have to do.
